Requirements
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting attorneys in family law cases, with a strong understanding of legal procedures and documentation. The Paralegal will play a vital role in assisting attorneys with case management, client communication, and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of legal services.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist attorneys with case preparation, including drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
2. Conduct legal research and analysis on various legal issues related to family law cases.
3. Organize and maintain case files, documents, and records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
4. Coordinate communication with clients, witnesses, and external parties, including scheduling appointments, interviews, and court appearances.
5. Prepare and file legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other relevant entities.
6. Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders.
7. Review and summarize medical records, police reports, and other relevant documents related to cases.
8. Provide administrative support to attorneys, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and preparing expense reports.
9. Maintain confidentiality of client information and sensitive legal matters at all times.
10. Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and legal procedures affecting our practice areas.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution preferred.
2. Minimum of 2-4 years of experience working as a Paralegal in Family Law
3. Proficiency in legal research tools, such as Westlaw or Clio, Docusign, Dropbox, and Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and case management.
6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and staff.
7. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
8. Familiarity with legal software and case management systems is a plus.
